Credibility note:

Validated in the field by camera operators who rely on cabling that keeps rigs balanced, and shots steady.

The

Challenge

Multiple cable runs added weight and drag to the gimbal, making balance difficult and risking shot stability during a live show where reliability was non-negotiable. Commercial, off-the-shelf solutions simply could not carry power, audio, camera control, and video together reliably in a compact form factor, nor could they be mounted securely on a moving gimbal.

Nemal MTJIBS Case Study - The Challenge

The

Solution

Nemal’s engineering team collaborated directly with MTJIBS to design, engineer, and manufacture a custom fiber mux (multiplexing) box that solved the balance and connectivity problem. More than just consolidating connections, the system was purpose-built for the G1 rig’s demanding environment.

Working hand-in-hand with MTJIBS, the Nemal team created an integrated fiber and connection system specifically for the Shotover G1. The design takes full advantage of the rig’s slip rings: a single fiber runs from the connection box to the head unit, where signals pass through the individual motor enclosures. This allows the head to rotate and move freely, completely unencumbered by outside cables.

The

Result

A single fiber path now carries all required signals, routed seamlessly through the G1’s slip rings. The camera head can rotate and move without restriction, free of the external cabling that once compromised balance and reliability.

In the field, the difference is dramatic:

  • Shot stability and smoothness even during rapid, high-speed moves.

  • Simplified setup and strike, replacing multiple runs with one secure box.

  • Greater operator confidence, knowing the system is engineered to withstand the demands of live broadcast.

By transforming a rough concept into a fully engineered, rugged, and mountable solution, Nemal helped MTJIBS unlock the full potential of the Shotover G1 rig—delivering professional-grade performance where it matters most.
