SMB/SMC - These two types, the push-on (SMB) and screw-on (SMC), are approximately the same size as the SMA series connectors. Unlike SMAs, however, which have a high frequency range, these are medium performance connectors operative in the DC to 10 gigahertz range. Typical applications include video-lead and internal component use.

SMB, SMC, and SMZ connectors features 75 ohm impedance and are mostly used in instrumentation but also widely used in critical telecommunications and CATV applications. The SMB connector is a snap-on series with a similar interface to the SMC series, although larger in size. Although rated for 2GHz, they have been successfully used above 4GHz.

The pull-push latching mechanism of the SMB connectors allow quick connects and disconnects. Board-to-board mounting and low insertion force are other features that make these connectors a preferred choice.

SMB/SMC/SMZ connectors are commonly used with miniature 50 and 75 Ohm cables such as RG174, RG179, RG187, RG188, 316, LMR 100, and LMR 100A, among others.
